Left out of the LeBron James sweepstakes, the New Jersey Nets will move onward with their ambitious 'Blueprint for Greatness' campaign. Some thought the Nets would be in the running for James due to his relationship with minority owner Jay-Z, but that was not the case.

Major League Baseball's All-Star break is less than a week away, but for some players and teams it cannot come soon enough. Wanting to get a jump on their vacation plans, the Cleveland Indians have asked Major League Baseball if it would be OK for them to forgo their final series before the break, and get out of town a few days early.

Thanks to a dramatic goal by Landon Donovan in stoppage time, the United States World Cup team has locked up a mention on ESPN's Sportscenter for at least another few days or so. Had the U.S. lost to or tied Algeria, they almost certainly would have been left out of cable and satellite television's most prominent highlight and sports news program.

By coming up on the losing end of a friendly wager over the outcome of the Brazil-North Korea World Cup match, North Korea dictator Kim Jong-il was forced to wear some ridiculous glasses in his latest public appearance. Jong-il had made a bet with Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva before the match.
