The New York Yankees won their 27th World Series title in franchise history last night, but the tone was surprisingly one of indifference. Yankee management appeared to be completely bored with the outcome of buying a World Series title, and has now set their sights on buying something else.
"It just hit me when the champagne was popped," said New York GM Brian Cashman. "This is completely boring. It had just been so long since our last World Series title that I forgot what it felt like to buy a ring. Personally, I'd like to go buy something else. Constantly pursuing big name free agents is getting old."
Yankees ownership echoed that feeling.
"You'd think we'd be happier than we are," said one of the Steinbrenners. "But this was SO boring. I think we need to expand our horizons and buy something besides a World Series title. I was thinking maybe a luxury car or one of those third-world countries you're always hearing about."
