Inattentive Phillies Allow Johnny Damon to Kidnap Philly Phanatic

Inexplicably, the Phillies allowed Johnny Damon to steal two bases on the same pitch in the ninth inning of a 4-4 game in the World Series. After the game, the Phillies inattentiveness continued, as Damon was able to kidnap the Philly Phanatic.

"Yeah, we kind of let our guard down there," said Philadelphia manager Charlie Manuel. "I mean who expects a fast, crafty veteran guy like Johnny Damon to kidnap a mascot? Certainly not anyone on this team."

Damon says he has been thinking about a moment like this all season.

"I knew I could do it, but the circumstances had to be perfect," says Damon. "The Phillies were just sitting there feeling sorry for themselves, so I grabbed the Phanatic and ran like crazy. I've still got some juice in the tank."
