The return of Allen Iverson to the 76ers was sure to be an emotional reunion given his previous history with the franchise and the team's fans. Iverson choked up during a tearful press conference, and became particularly distraught after learning the dismal record of the 76ers.
"We've lost how many already?" asked Iverson, sobbing, wiping tears away from his bloodshot eyes. "I love the city of Philadelphia and want to retire a Sixer, but we really that bad? It just been too hard to watch the Sixers since I left. I didn't realize how bad things had gotten."
Iverson cried uncontrollably for several minutes, and mumbled some incoherent words through the free flowing tears before temporarily composing himself.
"I'm sorry, my emotions got the best of me for awhile. It's nice to come home to the place I love, but things were a little better when I left. We made the playoffs. We made the finals, man. Coming back to this is like hooking up with an old girlfriend that's gained 100 pounds or lost all her teeth. There ain't no joy in that."
