Despite downplaying rumors that he will replace the recently fired Charlie Weis as head coach at Notre Dame, Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops was spotted house hunting in South Bend on his day off.
"Just because I happen to be in South Bend, Indiana does not mean I am leaving Oklahoma to become the new head coach of the Fighting Irish," said Stoops at an open house. "Real estate happens to be a hobby of mine, and this particular six bed, four and a half bath home is well below market value. It"s simply an investment opportunity."
The real estate agent hosting the open house overheard Stoops mentioning several features he really like about the home.
"He absolutely fell in love with the open floor plan, the vaulted ceilings, and the size of the family room," said the agent, "not to mention the spacious backyard with an in ground pool."
When questioned about his comments on the home, Stoops was steadfast in his claims that he is just interested in the investment potential.
"This is a nice home, what can I say? Who wouldn't want to live here? Regardless of how beautiful this home is, I am not leaving Oklahoma to coach at Notre Dame. We're simply looking at homes for the investment potential. The notion of me moving here is ridiculous, as I can't coach Oklahoma while living in South Bend. That's a long commute. Say, are there any nice golf courses nearby? I like to have a nice local course, er...I mean it's nice to have a golf course nearby should I ever visit."
