LSU fell short against the Ole Miss Rebels by a score of 25-23, and many are pointing the blame at Tiger head coach Les Miles and his poor clock management. Miles struggled to call time out, wasting precious seconds that inevitably cost his team the game. He was finally able to signal for timeout at his post-game press conference.
"Time out! Time out!" shouted Miles, completely unaware the game had already ended. "Alright, now we might have some time to get into position to kick a field goal. Field goal team get ready, we don't want to lose with you guys just standing over here on the sidelines."
Miles stood and pondered what to say next for approximately five minutes.
"I got it!" exclaimed the coach. "We're going to spike the ball on first down with one second left since we are out of time outs. I'm sure of it since we only get three a half, or is it four? I don't know, whatever it is. Anyway, since we don't have timeouts left, we'll spike the ball to stop the clock. Does anyone know if spiking the ball actually runs time off the clock? It does? Really? So if there's only one second left you're telling me that will end the game? Ooops. Say, does anyone know how to read this here watch I've got? It was a gift and I always mix up if the big hand or the little hand is the hour. I guess I screw up digital watches too, so it probably doesn't matter. Forget it."
