Following Notre Dame's second loss to Navy in three years, Charlie Weis is clearly on the hot seat, struggling once again to return Notre Dame to its past glory. In an attempt to speed up the process of returning Notre Dame to the top of the rankings, Notre Dame has yet to fire Weis, but has preemptively fired Charlie Weis's replacement. Following the season the school will skip right to the coach that will lead them to national prominence once again.
"There's no sense in hiring a coach that will certainly get our hopes up with a good season, only to underachieve in years following," said a representative of the school. "Why would we want to go through that again? Exactly, we wouldn't. That is why we are skipping a step and saving ourselves at least three or four years of aggravation. Not to mention millions of dollars."
Despite his replacement having already been fired, current coach Charlie Weis in undeterred in his drive to hold onto his job.
"I'm going to do all I can to keep this job and help our football team win," said a determined Weis. "If that means putting in extra hours so we can barely beat a mid-level WAC or C-USA team in the Small Peanuts Bowl, then that's exactly what our staff is going to do."
