Devin Belton, a talented running back from Farmar, Texas was initially a highly recruited prospect for several top college programs. Unfortunately his overbearing father, William Belton, scared most away, and nearly jeopardized his son's final chance at a Division I scholarship by adamantly demanding to proofread and ultimately revise the letter of intent he was about to sign.
"Those college coaches think they're so smart," said William Belton. "They come in here with the same form letters of intent that everyone signs and expect my son to just go along with it. I don't think so. I wanted to rephrase some things, make it more relevant for my boy, maybe make the transition to college a little easier for him, but those hard headed coaches where having none of it. They're lucky I'm still allowing Devin to attend their stupid school."
Immediately after his son Devin had signed his national letter of intent, the elder Belton began speaking with several of the school's coaches, discussing ways to get Devin the ball, even suggesting possible plays they should run. Feeling the coaches were uninterested or even dismissive with what he had to say, the irate father says he'll be initiating a push to get the entire coaching staff fired.
