USC's Pete Carroll was quite upset with Stanford and their head coach Jim Harbaugh, with what many viewed as running up the score following Stanford's 55-21 victory, as the Cardinal went for two leading 48-21. He has continued his "deal" with Stanford, and is now accusing them of running up their SAT scores.
"There is no way a team of football players can have SAT scores that high," said the frazzled head coach of the Trojans. "I've coached in this league for quite some time and there is no conceivable way a group of players on a PAC-10 football team have that level of intelligence. No way. Most guys have a hard enough time reading the nameplate above their locker."
Cardinal head coach Jim Harbaugh says that the test scores are accurate, and he thinks Carroll is just trying to feel better by cutting others down.
"He's used to being on top. I think he is trying to belittle successes of others in order to make himself and his program feel better," said Harbaugh. "I can assure you that no impropriety is going on regarding our players and their SAT scores. Believe it or not, some college athletes actually have a higher SAT score than a max bench press."
