The Buffalo Bills fired their entire coaching staff on what is now known as "Black Monday", the first day after the end of the regular season. Unfortunately, the Bills newly promoted GM Bill Nix inadvertently terminated his own contract due to the chaotic environment.
"How embarrassing," said Nix, just promoted by the team from national scout to general manager. "I was just going crazy terminating contracts left and right, when I mistakenly picked mine up and ripped it to pieces. It was on my desk under the pile of coaches contracts, as I had yet to return it to owner, Ralph Wilson."
Even though Nix had no intention of firing himself, the Bills are forced to comply with his torn up contract per league rules, leaving him without a job.
"I guess I'll never make that mistake again," said Nix. "Not because I learned my lesson, but because I am no longer the GM of an NFL team."
