With the Pro Bowl creeping closer and closer, Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme is hopeful about ten more quarterbacks announce their intentions to skip the game, opening up a roster spot for him alongside the game's best.
"Every NFL player dreams of being named to the Pro Bowl, myself included." said Delhomme. "Unfortunately, I received very few votes from fans, players and coaches, leaving me off the original roster. I think I had a few relatives vote for me, but that's about it. Now my only chance to make the Pro Bowl is to have ten or so quarterbacks withdraw from the game."
Despite the unlikelihood of ten more quarterbacks opting to skip the Pro Bowl, Delhomme is keeping the faith.
"Until the game starts, there is still a chance of me replacing someone on that team. As a guy that is technically an NFL quarterback, I qualify to play in that game, so there is always a possibility."
Football experts speculate every starting and backup quarterback in the NFC would have to decline the invitation, as well as any player with quarterback experience in high school or college, pushing the number far beyond the ten Delhomme is hoping for.
