The Raiders appear to be nearing an end to their relationship with former #1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell. First the team signs J.P. Losman, then names Charlie Frye as the starter, and has now sent a moving van to Russell's home.
"So I'm just sitting there having my customary twelve egg omelet for breakfast, and then this huge moving van shows up in my driveway," said a confused Russell. "Why would they send a moving van to my house? I'm not moving. I still have a very high paying job with the Raiders. I mean I was the #1 overall pick."
A crew of movers quickly went through Russell's things and loaded them onto the truck against the quarterback's will.
"I kept telling them I'm not moving, but they didn't seem to listen or care," said Russell. "It's almost as if the Raiders are trying to get rid of me."
A spokesman for the Raiders said that is exactly what the team is trying to do, and the moving van was the last hint.
"We've left several hints for him that he isn't wanted, from moving his locker out into the hallway to giving him the wrong departure time for an away game, to signing J.P. Losman. J.P. Losman!?! I know, I didn't belive it either when I heard the news. I supposed we could have just cut Russell instead of doing all this, but we like to do things the hard way around here."
