The Detroit Lions were on the losing end in arguably one of the worst matchups in NFL history over the weekend. The 1-5 Lions were defeated by the 0-7 Rams, ending the Rams' 17 game losing streak. This week, Detroit looks to rebound from the loss, as the organization has decided to give up football entirely.
"We completely hit rock bottom and then some," said a member of the Lions front office. "As an organization we feel that it would just be too difficult to come back from this. A 19 game losing streak was bad, but dropping a game to the Rams is indescribable. Instead of continuing to play football, we will spare ourselves and our opponents the injury risk and forfeit the rest of this season and all seasons in the future."
