Propelled By Thanksgiving Day Push, Lions Only Lose By 22

Propelled by the Thanksgiving Day push that comes from playing in front of a sold out crowd and a national television audience, the Detroit Lions fought there way to a narrow 22-point defeat at the hands of the Green Bay Packers.

"I think we showed the country what type of football we are capable of playing," said Matt Stafford, the team's quarterback. "We didn't just lay down and lose by 35. We really felt that extra something that comes from playing this game in front of a packed stadium and a national TV audience, and I think we played our tails off today. Without that intangible Thanksgiving Day push, I think we could have completely embarrassed ourselves."

Lions coach, Jim Schwartz, was very proud of the effort put forth by his team.

"There's a little extra motivation that comes from being on center stage," said Schwarz, " and I think we showed how motivated we were today. We didn't let the Packers come in here and roll all over us. Well, at least not right away. We put up a strong fight for a good six or seven minutes in the first quarter."
