Bobby C. Payner of New Orleans, 43, was nearing his breaking point, and felt he didn't have much left to live for. But after the Saints pulled off the awe inspiring feat of winning an important football game, he has decided to finally rebuild his life, and his home.
"This win means so much to me," said Payner, a survivor of Hurricane Katrina. "I was at the end of my rope, and if the Saints lost, I didn't know what I was going to do. But they won, and watching those fans celebrate the outcome of a football game in the Superdome and on the streets of this city made me realize just how worthwhile life can be."
Payner, who lost several loved ones in that tragic event four and a half years ago, as well as his home, had no motivation or drive to rebuild. That is until the Saints dramatically defeated the Minnesota Vikings in overtime to win the NFC Championship.
"Well, I'm broke, I've got no job prospects, no family, and I obviously don't have a place to call home. But watching the Saints persevere and overcome such great obstacles to make it to the Super Bowl makes the problems of my life seem so small, so trivial. That team truly is an inspiration."
