With a dramatic, last second touchdown, Vince Young and the Tennessee Titans became BCS Champions by defeating Matt Leinart and the Arizona Cardinals. It was the second time Young has led a team to a BCS Championship victory over an opponent quarterbacked by Leinart, a fact totally overlooked by the media.
"For me to lead a team to two BCS titles and go against the same quarterback is pretty remarkable," said Young. "I'm just surprised that no one has asked me about the Texas-USC game. I mean that was an incredible game, and it clearly had some bearing on the outcome today."
Leinart is also surprised no one even thought to mention the 2006 Rose Bowl.
"That game was awesome, but no mention of it? Really? I can't believe I lose to this guy for the second time in a BCS Championship game an nobody wants to talk about it. Unbelievable."
Sam Rosen, who announced the game for Fox, is shocked that the previous meeting between these two quarterbacks wasn't even alluded to in the broadcast. Not to mention the obvious parallel between two last second victories engineered by Young.
"It's as if our research staff totally fell asleep on that one," said Rosen. "I assure you, if I had been reminded that Texas beat USC four years ago, and that Young and Leinart were the quarterbacks, I would have talked about it until I was blue in the face."
